40cm Snow Storm Hits The Alps!
Posted by George Biffen
The photo above was taken over the weekend from one of our team members overlooking the Hotel Portetta and the Belvedere piste.
Heavy snow has hit the Alps and more is expected from today until next week! Up to 30cm of snow coated the Alps, especially in Avoriaz and Val Thorens. However, the winning resorts goes to St Anton, who got up to 40cm at the top!
As you can see from a collection of Webcam shots below, the snow is covering nearly all resorts across the Alps. Freezing point was as low as 1100m. However, the snow doesn’t stop there as from Tuesday night, many resorts will see another heavy dose. Looks like it’s going to be a White Christmas.
Did you know that Avoriaz has the highest snowfall average of all the French resorts in the Alps!?
Have a read of the ‘Keen For Tignes‘ blog and see why it is one of the most popular resort in the alps and the endless activities it has to offer.
This video was sent to us by our ski hotel partners in Kaprun and Zell am see (Austria). I can’t believe it’s only November and there is this much snow!
Snow Is On Its Way… AGAIN!
A heavy dose of snow is happening from as early as Tuesday, right through to Friday night, with the heaviest during Wednesday night. Temperatures will be below freezing, averaging -5 at mid station.
This is great news after last year didn’t see anything until the end of November and then a snow break over December. If this carries on like this, it could be one of the best snow conditions for December in years!
