A wonderfully refreshing, zingy champagne with an aroma of apples, a lovely lime acidity and a hint of
crisp clean citrus fruit. Firm structure in the mouth and a long lingering finish. A perfect example of
small producer craftsmanship.
White Wines:
Montarels Viognier 2005 Côtes de Thongue
100% Viognier
This wine could almost be baby Condrieu. Classic aroma of apricots with some marmalade as well. Rich
and unctuous in the mouth without being cloying. Apricot fruit with lemon acidity and a rich and
persistent finish.
Muscadet de Sevre et Maine Sur Lie Prestige de l'Hermitage 2004 Domaine Clair Moreau 100 % Melon de Bourgogne
Classic muscadet, very much in a modern style. This wine retains all the traditional clean crispness of
the area but with all the benefits of modern wine making technique. Apple and lemon aromas and
a lovely fresh acidity and citrus fruit on the palate. Incisive wine with lovely clean structure.
Chateau Perin de Naudine, Graves 2005 Olivier Colas 100% Sauvignon Blanc
Fantastic example of Bordeaux white. A typical nose of gooseberries with some wetslate minerality.
Firm structure with zingy acidity and gooseberry and lime fruit. Rich mouth feel and a long persistent
crisp finish.
Red Wines:
Chateau Puynormond Vieilles Vignes, Montagne Saint-Emilion 2003 Philippe Lamarque 100% Merlot (12 months in a 40% new, 30% 1 year, 30% 2 years old oak barrels)
Very stylish modern claret. The nose is classic cassis and cedar wood. On the palate there is masses
of soft velvety blackcurrant fruit with soft ripe tannins. Lovely harmonious balance and a complex l
ayered finish.
Cotes du Roussillon Villages, Cuvée Les Candalieres 2005 Domaine Seguela 60% Carignan, 20% Syrah, 20% Grenache
Stunning wine made from 60year old vines. A massive nose of bramble, blackberry and spice. Huge
structure, with ripe tannins and black forest fruit with a hint of leather and spice. A smoky rich finish
completes a very serious wine.
Chateau L’Hestrange Grand Ordinaire 2004
100% Pinot Noir
Made from old vine Pinot in the Beaujolais region. An ultra modern expression of complex, multi layered
wine. A perfumed nose of raspberry pips and red berries. Very smooth and silky on the palate with
soft summer berry fruit and good balancing acidity. Well rounded, balanced finish. |
