Chamonix - Activities
Chamonix like all other ski resorts, is mainly about skiing but it also has plenty of alternatives for those non skiers or those looking for something extra. There are some fantastic facilities in the Sports Centre and below you will find a few more ideas to keep you occupied.
Walking or Snow Shoeing
Snowshoeing is a more peaceful way to enjoy the mountains, as you can go further afield than skiing or indeed skiing. You will go to areas that are usually only populated by deer, fox, hare and marten. There are many guides who will take you on day expeditions including a pic-nic stop or a midnight trail.
ParaGliding
Take a tandem flight with a qualified pilot or take lessons in paragliding.
Price: 15-30 minutes depending on aerological conditions will cost 100 Euros
Ice Climbing
The most famous place for beginners to start ice climbing is La Cremerie in Argentiere, but there are many great spots all over Chamonix.
Chamonix Sport Adventure will be able to provide instructors and guides to both get you going or help the more experienced climber explore the area.
Dog Sledding
For people with even just a small amount of affection for dogs, this is an exciting alternative to skiing or snow shoeing.
