La Plagne


There are numerous mountain restaurants in La Plagne, all with they own particular style and serving a variety of cuisines. Many of the traditional apine restaurants do tend to get busy in high season, so it is worth booking ahead for table service.





Old fashioned refuge - Montchavin

A fantastic old fashioned, mountain refuge-style restaurant situated at the top of the Montchavin lift.  You will be greeted with a warm welcome and a roaring log fire. Le Sauget serves delicious Savoyarde specialities and it is definitely worth reserving a table for lunch as it does fill up.


Hidden Gem - Champagny

The Laisonnay refuge is situated in the heart of the Champagny Le Haut valley.The restaurant is set a little way back from the piste and is open from February onwards.  Traditional lunches are cooked on an open fire - this place is a real gem.


Something different - Plagne Bellecôte

Located next to the Colosses chairlift in Plagne Bellecôte, this is a chalet-style restaurant serving traditional specialities as well as a stone grill and curry dishes.  


Sunny terrace - Champagny

La Rossa is located at the top of the Champagny gondola and offers fantastic views from its large South facing terrace.  It has friendly staff and good basic cooking including Savoyarde specialities, a selection of pizzas and its famous tarte tatin! Great for a reasonably priced lunch.


Late lunch spot - Champagny

Chalet des Verdons Sud is the perfect place for a long late lunch!  It is located above Champagny and has a large sunny terrace with fabulous views.   Inside are cosy wooden surroundings with a logs fire.  The extensive menu includes Savoyarde dishes and a good value Plat du Jour.


Great atmosphere and location - Plagne Villages

La Bergerie enjoys a brilliant slope side location at the top of La Bergerie chairlift and on the ski down back to resort. It provides friendly and efficient service and some excellent dishes, including tartiflette, burgers, pasta dishes and crêpes.  There is a large terrace with a DJ in the afternoon, making it a great spot for an end of the day beer!



Unique experience - Aime La Plagne

This is arguably one of the best restaurants in La Plagne.  Located in the huge Aime La Plagne complex, reachable in the evening via telecabine, you are guaranteed a friendly welcome by George and Monique in their cosy surroundings.  The menu includes classic French dishes and Savoyarde specialities.  Dont forget to leave room for the chocolate molleux or flaming crème brulée for pudding! Be sure to reserve a table in advance.


Best steaks - Plagne Villages

If you are after a steak than look no further than Le Grizzli! These are a highlight is this buzzing retaurants altough there are plenty of other dishes on offer including Savoyarde favourites such as raclette and tartiflette, risottos and some excellent puddings.  Service may appear a little rushed but all adds to the charm and you are sure to be in for a warm welcome.  This is one of the most popular restaurants in La Plagne so booking well ahead is strongly advised.


Fondue, raclette and hot stone! - Plagne Centre

This tucked away restaurant in Plagne Centre has a varied menu but it is the fondue, raclette and hot stone that come particularly well recommended. There is also very reasonably priced set menu. Service is efficient but friendly and there is always a comfortable atmosphere in the restaurant's contemporary interior.


Theatrical cookery - Plagne Soleil

Au Coin du Feu may not not look much from the outside but this little restaurant offers top notch food.  Dishes include rabbit rilettes, escargots, steaks and duck breast as well as some vegetarian options.  Although the decor is contemporary, there is a warming wood fire where the chef cooks the meat in front of the guests, over an open flame.  Booking is recommended.
