Getting to Les Arcs is easy, it's accessible via various different routes and modes of transport. NB: In an alpine environment Sat Navs are not always accurate and they will not be aware of road closures.
For driving in France, it is important that you check you have the following:
Beam deflectors
Warning triangle
Reflective vest
Green card. This is international comprehensive car insurance.
Spare set of car light bulbs
Car documentation (registration, insurance MOT etc)
Map
Do also remember your snow chains, you may not be allowed up to resort without them.
From Calais
From Calais it is about 1000km to Les Arcs. There are two autoroutes/peages that can be taken, these are the French motorways. The autoroutes are toll roads, payment can be made by credit cards or Euros.
· From CALAIS follow the A26 towards REIMS and onto TROYES.
· Follow the autoroute towards and around DIJON and join the A6 at BEAUNE towards LYON.
· On to the A43 at LYON towards CHAMBERY and follow the autoroute to ALBERTVILLE.
· Follow the N90 to MOUTIERS.
· Once in Moutiers you will see signs to Bourg St Maurice and Les Arcs will be sign posted from here.
· Once in Bourg St Maurice follow signs for Les Arcs (N90) then at roundabout take the first exit onto D119 sign posted Les Arcs.
From Chambery
From Chambery it is about 136km to les Arcs.
On leaving Chambery airport turn onto the N201 following signs for Albertville
Continue following the Albertville signs eventually turning onto the A430.
Once at Albertville follow signs to Moutiers and the N90
From Moutiers follow the road to Bourg St Maurice.
Once in Bourg St Maurice follow signs for Les Arcs (N90) then at roundabout take the first exit onto D119 sign posted Les Arcs.
From Geneva
From Geneva it is about 234km to Les Arcs.
On leaving the airport follow the green signs for France.
These signs lead you, via the motorway/duel carriage way, to the Swiss/French border.
Once past the two custom posts follow signs in blue for the autoroute marked Annecy
Leave the autoroute at Junction 16, Albertville. Once through the peage / toll booth (cost in Nov. 2009, 6 Euors) follow the green signs to Albertville.
Just before reaching Albertville start to follow signs to Tarentaise, Chambery this route bypasses the town centre.
Then follow signs for Moutiers, Tarentaise.
From Moutiers follow the road to Bourg St Maurice
Once in Bourg St Maurice follow signs for Les Arcs (N90) then at roundabout take the first exit onto D119 sign posted Les Arcs.
From Lyon
From Lyon it is about 234km to Les Arcs.
On leaving the airport follow the green signs for Chambery and the A43.
At Chambery follow signs for the A430 and Albertville.
From Albertville you need to follow signes to Moutiers and the N90.
From Moutiers follow the road to Bourg St Maurice
Once in Bourg St Maurice follow signs for Les Arcs (N90) then at roundabout take the first exit onto D119 sign posted Les Arcs.
Coaches
Go to Eurolines http://www.eurolines.co.uk to look at the option of getting coaches to near by cities. You will then need to take a local bus up to resort.
