Also recommended by motoring organisations (and in some cases a legal requirement) for continental travel in winter are the following items: Small spares kit, fire extinguisher, spare keys, makers handbook, spare bulbs, snow chains & shovel.

From Calais:

  • Approximately 9 hours
  • Toll will probably amount to around €60 each way, varying a little depending on your destination and route.
  • Take the A26 from Calais to Troyes
  • The A26 becomes the A5 to Langres
  • The A5 becomes the A31 to Dijon
  • Take the A39 to Bourg-en-Bresse
  • Join the A40 towards Geneva
  • Turn off onto the A42 to Lyon
  • Take A43 from Lyon to Chambery and Albertville
  • Follow signs for Albertville, Moutiers and finally Les Menuires.

From Chambery

    On leaving Chambery airport turn onto the N201 following signs for Albertville
  • Continue following the Albertville signs eventually turning onto the A430.
  • Once at Albertville follow signs to Moutiers and the N90
  • Les Menuires is signposted as you enter Moutiers.

From Geneva

  • On leaving the airport follow the green signs for France.
  • These signs lead you, via the motorway/duel carriage way, to the Swiss/French border.
  • Once past the two custom posts follow signs in blue for the autoroute marked Annecy.
  • Leave the autoroute at Junction 16, follow the green signs to Albertville.
  • Just before reaching Albertville start to follow signs to Chambery this route bypasses the town centre.
  • Then follow signs for Moutiers.
  • Les Menuires is sign posted as you enter Moutiers.

From Lyon

  • On leaving the airport follow the green signs for Chambery and the A43.
  • At Chambery follow signs for the A430 and Albertville.
  • From Albertville you need to follow signs to Moutiers and the N90
  • From Moutiers follow the signs to Les Menuires.


Coaches

Go to Eurolines http://www.eurolines.co.uk to look at the option of getting coaches to near by cities.  You will then need to take a local bus up to resort.

Prices are around £100 return.
