Meribel - Eating in Resort
We know how important refuelling is on a ski holiday and Meribel does not disappoint on the gastronomy front. Meribel isn’t all about the skiing they have some fantastic restaurants serving a variety of dishes; from traditional Savoyard classics through pizzas, there is something to suit most tastes. These remarkable restaurants range from the affordable to the exceedingly expensive!
We have taken the time to list a selection of restaurants both on and off the mountain that we think are worth paying a visit, many of which we have had the pleasure of eating in.
Melt in your mouth food
Chez Kiki - Morel Meribel
Monsieur Kiki is something of a legend in Meribel – his melt in the mouth steaks are cooked over an open fire in the middle of the restaurant, whilst his fondues are some of the best in town. The warm foie gras is simply to die for. This is a very convenient restaurant if you are staying in our chalet Grange de Marie, Petit Gibus or Sabaudia as the resaturants stands at the foot of the hamlet where these chalets are located.
Le Refuge - Meribel Centre
Just down from the main square, this stalwart French bar and restaurant offers delicious traditional Savoyard food upstairs, and pizzas day and night, downstairs. At lunchtime there is a good value plat du jour. Here you will find a real taste of Gallic life. The decor and ambiance are reassuringly French, with chunky wooden tables and ancient farming memorabilia.
Jack's Bar - Meribel Centre
In Jack's Bar have a great range of homemade typical pizzas you would find in a ski resort but also the quirky, charming, interesting alternatives that end up being oh so popular you'll want to come back again and again to try the rest of the of the menu. They have a Pizza Du Jour, which offers the chefs the chance to get creative as well and show off their flare and passion for cooking. They also serve the infamous nachos and healthy Salad options. Food is served all day from 12pm-11pm non-stop.
Evolution Meribel Centre
At Evolution the menu evolves every year and season, but also every day. There are 3 different specials on a daily basis keep the regulars happy, but also help us remain as one of the most exciting places to eat, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. A personal favourite is the legendary homemade Bad Boy Burger (featured on Merinet's Top 6 Burgers in Meribel last Winter!).
Popular with the Local and International Crowd
Le Cro Magnon - Le Plateau, Meribel
Popular with the locals and for Meribel's regular holidayers, this place is slightly more expensive than the average - however there is no lack of charm here and the decor is romantic and cosy with a heart theme. You can expect typical French cuisine on the menu along with veal kidneys and sea bass - some of the food is quite rich (but you are in France), so stay away if that is not your thing. This place does book up and in peak season it is highly unlikely that you will be able to just turn up.
La Taverne - Meribel Centre
Situated right in the heart of Méribel, you will find La Taverne Restaurant, Wine and Tapas bar. An a la carte menu with an infusion of international and innovative cuisine and seafood specialities complimented with local savoyarde fayre, and an extensive wine list ranging from classical to the sublime.
