Val Thorens - Resort Information

Val Thorens
Need information about Val Thorens Ski Resort? We appreciate that you may not know too much about the resort you are travelling to, so we have put together a really handy page of useful information about Val Thorens ski resort.

WiFi access out and about

WiFi is available in most of our residences, but if you prefer to be out and about there is free access to the internet at the Tourist Offices and most hotels and bars offer WiFi, some of which is charged for. Most bars advertise their WiFi in their windows and require a code - it is always a good idea to buy a drink if you are using the WiFi.

Pistes & Connectability

For someone not used to the squiggly lines on a piste map, here are the colours of piste explained. Everyone will have their favourite piste runs and discovering them is part of the excitement, but here are a few of our favourite runs that we highly recommend.
Type of run
Our Favouites
Very easy nursery slopes for beginner level, normally very smooth and flat

Flocons and Combe de Thorens

Easy runs with a slight gradient increase and a few more bumps and uneven ground that may test your balance
Pluviometre and Fond
Suitable for the intermediate level skier who is confident on steeper slopes with increased bumps, can be challenging in places
Campagnon and Bois Mint
For advanced and experienced skiers only, who can master very difficult, steep and uneven terrain
The Three Valleys ski area is not just for intermediate and advanced skiers. Out of 358 runs, just over half are easy whist the other half are intermediate to advanced pistes. The ski area was designed as much for beginners and children as for experienced skiers.

Free Shuttle Buses

Free shuttle buses operate within La Vallée des Belleville, so that visitors can easily access and enjoy skiing and activities in Saint Martin, Les Menuires and Val Thorens.  The shuttle buses link these villages and run every 20 minutes from Sunday to Friday.

Val Thorens is a semi pedestrianised resort, which means that there is is very limited street parking available in the resort itself. Many of the hotels and residences do allow you to park for a short amount of time to drop of your luggage. Due to Val Thorens' altitude, we recommend using one of the indoor car parks, as this will protect your vehicle from the heavy snow falls and extreme weather conditions.

Long stay indoor car parks:

P0 - located just off Rue de Boucle near the Valthoparc bureau
P1 - central parking on Grand Rue
P2 - located on Rue du Soleil (the first right off Grand Rue before you enter the main resort)

The car parks can be found on the resort map by the blue P. Indoor parking costs from €15 per day and €75. Reserving online in advance can save you a few pennies - we recommend visiting the Val Tho Parc website.
