Consistently rated as one of the best resorts in North America, Whistler is undoubtedly one of the world’s greatest skiing destinations. An incredible snow record, buzzing après scene and quality hotels combine with the fun and friendly Canadian attitude to make Whistler a truly special winter destination. And that’s before we’ve even started on the ski area!

The 2010 Winter Olympics broadcast the spectacular scenery of British Columbia to the world, highlighting its jagged peaks, imposing glaciers and vast areas of forest. Home to the infamous Peak 2 Peak gondola spanning the Whistler and Blackcomb mountains, Whistler’s ski area is one of the largest in the world, with 8,000 acres of piste and 1,600m of vertical drop. All abilities of skier are catered for, with expansive, challenging bowls for the more experienced, 200 marked trails, an excellent ski school and designated snowboarding areas.

Whistler has a decidedly European feel compared to many North American resorts and the purpose-built centre boasts attractive West Coast style architecture and cobbled pedestrianised streets. There are plenty of activities for non-skiers or those wishing to take a break in this cosmopolitan resort, including dog sledding, sleigh rides and snow mobiling, not to mention the huge array of shops and spa facilities. Time to tick this skiing mecca off your list!
