The locals simply call it 'Oz', a low key, laid back resort away from the crowds and noise of Alpe d'Huez itself. The village is small with just a handful of shops to buy postcards, some wine, and cheese - what more do you really need? There's a couple of restaurants and a pizza truck there last year. The resort was purpose built in 1989, with low rise buildings attractively made with wood and stone to a backdrop of fir trees. The village centre is pedestrianized and therefore child friendly. You can ski through the village to the lifts in the mornings that will whisk you straight up to the main ski area - another major draw to Oz (248km of pistes).
The local slopes are great for learning and mellow sun drenched, tree lined runs are perfect for getting your ski legs as well as a little powder hunting through the trees. But the major draw when it comes to skiing is the links to the wider Alpe d'Huez ski area. A massive 248km of largely intermediate terrain with more red runs to explore than you could possibly want. Test your abilities on challenging blacks such as the Tunnel or the 16km Sarenne run down from Pic Blanc up at a lofty 3,300m.
Oz en Oisans is by no means a buzzing apres resort. The mellow runs are echoed in the mellow apres scene. Just a handful of places to eat, it's more about relaxing after your days' skiing. Or you could always just carry on with a spot of night skiing. The resort also provides various different sledding apparatus free of charge to test out on the local slopes.

Although Oz does have a handful of great local slopes between the trees, the big draw to the resort is once you've progressed to an intermediate level your free to explore the wider ski area and you're in for a treat. Long cruising reds and the wide open sunny bowl of Alpe d'Huez is at your mercy.
