Cortina is a stunning ski resort. One of the oldest in Europe and it has retained its upmarket finery from glamorous eras past. The impressive cobbled promenade is overlooked by stone church spires and the dramatically towering Dolomites; tinged pink at dusk and dawn.
It's Italy's most prestigious ski resort and you can see this during aperitivo hour (just after the lifts close) where the streets are packed with window shoppers in all their glam, there's not a ski boot insight. But this is also the beauty of Cortina with most guests here for the town it leaves the slopes blissfully quiet, you'll struggle to find a queue anywhere.
Take advantage of all three ski areas with excellent progression terrain spread over the 120km of pistes.
Cortina's 120km of slopes are split into 3 distinct ski areas with a great variety of skiing. 95% of the pistes are covered by snowmaking meaning you'll always be able to ski them.
The Tofana-Socrepes area has 47km of piste just outside the town centre with a new gondola for 2019/20. The area has some of the best beginner and less confident intermediate runs.
Faloria-Cristallo area has 44km of piste and linked by cable car to the outskirts of town (across the park) and the views from the Faloria peak (2,123m) are stunning. This is red and black heaven with a terrain park.
Cinque Torri-Lagazuoi area has 29km of piste and is a 25 minute bus ride from town. The five rock towers that give the area it's name are striking. Don't miss the 8.5km hidden valley run.
