Area Manager - France

Acting as part of the senior overseas management team

Based:                        Le Praz, Courchevel, France 

Term:                          Contract - Proposed Start 22nd October 2018 (TBC) - in Alps

Holiday:                      25 days per annum pro rata (based on contract length 12.5 days - no more than 3 consecutive work days)

Reporting To:            Nikos Vekios, Operations Director (UK based)

Role Overview

To ensure the overall strong performance and profitability of the French Chalet Operation in France.  Working closely with the senior management team based in Le Praz and working directly with Nikos, Operations Director, in managing Val d'Isere, Meribel and Courchevel, providing full support & guidance to each of the Resort Management Teams.

Pre-Season 

  • Administrative, Logistical and Operational tasks necessary for season preparation
  • Working with the Properties & Supplier Manager and Product Executive with organisation of relevant contracts & paperwork, store-room management and property preparation
  • Assisting with Pre-Season Maintenance Plans
  • Involvement, as necessary, in Resort Staff Recruitment and Training

Operations

  • Ensuring company standards are upheld in all chalets at all times, working closely with the local teams in checking the PW Product is being delivered to guests and in line with our H&S guidelines
  • Providing support in terms of Customer Services and involvement in major incidents where necessary and taking corrective action in response to guest feedback where needed.
  • Overseeing the smooth running of procurement, shopping & laundry management processes and central store-room stocks for both supplier goods & Powder White assets
  • Ensuring maximisation of Ski Pack sales and implementing weekly sales strategies working to targets and working closely with the company Accountant in managing and overseeing movement of revenues.
  • Managing the company fleet of vehicles, ensuring maintenance upkeep and overseeing Powder Shuttle & Third Party Supplier weekly transfer schedule

Resort Expenditure 

  • Working closely with the Company Accountant and Operations Director in managing Central, Resort and Chalets' Expenditure, allocating weekly budgets, ensuring these figures are worked to and implementing action plans in cases of overspend

Stores & Logistics

  • Overseeing start of season stocks and chalet allocations, following up with resort teams throughout the season to ensure stocks are at sufficient levels
  • Managing the supply chain of centrally ordered and delivered consumables such as wine & champagne, toiletries, etc
  • Facilitate end of season stores' closure and ensure these are all fully inventorised

Staff Management, Recruitment and Training

  • Working closely with Resort Management on staff performance and management, advising on and involvement in disciplinary action where necessary
  • Authorising weekly staff rota's
  • In-season resort staff recruitment, including interviewing, to ensure sufficient staffing levels – working together with the HR Manager in the UK
  • Assisting with preparation, and thereafter delivery of, the comprehensive pre-season Training Programme, accompanying guide material and implementation of in-resort training for in-season new recruits

This role is currently intended on a contract basis between October 2018 & April 2019, however there is every chance it could progress to a career building permanent role based on performance and potential growth of The Company.
