Glitzy Kitzbühel (Kitz to locals) is often viewed as one of the greatest ski resorts in the Alps (it was actually awarded Best Ski Resort in the World 2013). It has 2 ski areas immediately accessible from the town itself, with gondolas up to the stand-alone "natural snow paradise" of the Kitzbüheler Horn on one side and the famous Hahnenkamm on the other. It is possible to ski from the Hahnenkamm to neighbouring ski areas above Jochberg and Pass Thurn. The resort is made up of 51 lifts and cable cars which connect 170 kilometres of ski slopes that are suitable for all standards. In particular there is an above average amount of family runs, (69 km easy and 77km intermediate) but also some more testing terrain, not to mention the famous Streif!.

After a day on the mountain, the 700 year old town comes alive with its lively après ski bars. The resort also boasts numerous cafés, restaurants and designer shops.

Kitzbühel is conveniently located for short transfers with Salzburg just 75km away, and Innsbruck and Munich also potential gateways to this beautiful resort.

Kitzbühel is particularly well-known for hosting the Hahnenkamm ski race - the greatest annual Downhill in the world. It is the biggest sporting event in Austria, attracting crowds of up to 80,000 and has been staged in Kitzbühel since 1931.
